Fraudulent Direct Debits

Leigh Gilles Founder/CEO at Wonder Wards Posted 3 months ago

Hello all,
I am still fairly new to the Charity sector and have recently been very stressed out by scumbags using my charity's banking details (acc no and sort code) to start direct debits. I've had magazine subscriptions at £60/month and now mobile phone bills. I cannot believe there isn't a security protocol to prevent this from happening. But alas, my bank is saying there is nothing they can do and that I will need to change my account. Which, as many of you will know, means changing my account details with everyone we deal with for payments (Paypal, Stripe etc).
Is this common in the sector? I just can't believe people would do this.
