CharityConnect: Are you are charity employee and a carer for your elderly parents?
As it's carer's week this week as you may or may not be aware.
I wanted to have a discussion(if you are open to it) around what challenges people are experiencing on a day to day basis and maybe help each other with a solution or share what is working for you.
Maybe you can relate to my story or know someone who is experiencing this at the moment in their lifestyle that needs a lifeline. During these challenging times we are facing around the world.
Over the last 6 years when my dad passed away. I became the primary carer for my mum. I wasn't prepared for the work life balance challenges I'd be facing and didn't know how deep I'd be going down the rabbit hole. From juggling hospital, dental, optician, x-rays, MRI scans, memory & foot clinics, physio, hearing and doctors appointments. Following up with the chemist for delayed medication, chasing the doctors for a prescription, calling out the chair lift engineer when a breakdown happens, arranging transport services, making sure her emotional and physical welfare is OK on a day to day basis, grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning, filling in online forms, handling financial bills and the list goes on....
Does any of this sound familiar? Let me know your thoughts? #carerweek
Many thanks have a great day 😊
Hitesh
