Hello, we are a counselling charity. We provide therapy for whatever people say they can afford to pay.
We send invoices out and the clients pay these (or not!) for their session.
I have come across another counselling charity, whose website word it differently
"We ask all clients to make a regular donation at each session, including the initial assessment appointment, according to their genuine ability to do so.  Private counselling elsewhere typically costs around £60 per session. We will discuss this arrangement with you at your initial appointment and agree a weekly donation which is affordable to you .
We will ask you if we can claim Gift Aid on your donations.  This increases the amount we receive from your donation, without any further cost to you, as long as you are a UK tax payer.".
My understanding has been that you shouldn't claim GA on a payment received for providing a service.
Could someone with a far better grasp of this give any advice?
Thank you in advance.
