Gift Aid on Merchendise

Finance
New

Libbie Waddleton Fundraising Officer at Wilf Ward Family Trust Posted 9 hours ago

Hi there, we are trying to get into offering 'free gifts' with some of our donations however reading through HMRC's guidelines it's quite unlcear how to do it legally.

I have sought external advice but I wanted another reference point if possible.

My understanding is based around this example.

The item RRP can be no more than 25% of the donation price so

Example baseball cap:

A basic baseball cap that would RRP at say £5 could then have a suggested donation price of £20 and we could then claim the giftaid on the full amount. If our item was say £10 RRP,  we could not thenask for a donation of £25 for the item becauswe the £10 RRP is more than 25% of the donation.
I think that is correct?
