CharityConnect: Introducing CharityConnect 2.0
Based on a lot of research, feedback and weeks and weeks of work, we are delighted to be making some significant structural and design improvements to the CharityConnect community. We’re making these improvements to enable more discussions and encourage better quality conversations in the community.
The main efforts have gone into the homepage which will be much more interactive and easier to navigate. It will also be a lot easier for you to follow and participate in the latest and most popular conversations with our much-improved feed.
We really want to make CharityConnect all about you. Our changes are very focused on enhancing the feeling of community. We’ve made profiles more prominent across all areas of the site to make it clearer who has contributed. We’ll also be recognising members that put lots of effort into the community.

Apart from looking much better (if we do say so ourselves 😏) there are some important changes in terms of our structure:
  • 🎉We are introducing 7 new Discussion Hubs to support inclusion, openness and engagement 🎉
  • A new area to feature what’s most important in the community right now
  • An improved activity feed that allows you to filter by comments, views and likes.
  • An area spotlighting the community’s latest contributors
  • Improvements to the look and feel of our post pages

Why are we doing it?
So far, the CharityConnect community has been focused around isolated groups which kept the community dispersed and disconnected.
2 years ago, CharityConnect started with over 60 groups. This year, it became clear that 60% of these groups had become redundant with very little activity. Almost all new posts were being put into a very small number of our groups, whilst the rest remained lonely and empty.  👻
We invited you to some focus groups and feedback sessions. Thanks so much to everyone who took part (shout outs to you guys below). We have also been working with some community experts. We’ve realised that we needed a structure that was more open, inclusive and easier to navigate.
As a result, we decided to kick-start a project that has led to a much better site with clearer design and hopefully seven very busy discussion Hubs!

Things to look out for:
  1. The community homepage is going to look significantly different so it may take you a day or two to get used to it.
  2. It should be much easier for you to access and participate in discussions.
  3. Don’t worry about your previous posts. You can find them in the discussion Hub they’re most suited to 😀. Alternatively, find all your posts on your profile page. If you can’t find it, as always, you can give it a search.
  4. The new Discussion Hubs cover all of the content areas we’ve always had on CharityConnect. If you’re unsure about where to put a post, please do just send me a message!

The changes will be released next week (W/C 3rd December).
If you do have any questions or feedback on the changes, please leave a comment below. Your thoughts really do matter to us.

🙌 With a big, huge, extra special thanks to...
