I'm working with a Charity whose Chair's term is about to come to an end. They are recruiting for new Board Members (including a Chair), but it's very likely there will be a gap between the current Chair leaving and their replacement starting.
Ideally, an existing board member will step in as an interim chair. But if no one is up for it, are they able to operate with no chair for a period? I know they ideally should have one in terms of processes, visible chain of command etc, but just from a legal perspective, can they be Chairless?
