This question is from a member of our community that wishes to remain anonymous:
Just over six years ago I had a disagreement with a certain chairman of a well known charity, I was getting pushed around at a time when I was unwell and placed in a disagreeable position with other members. I reacted to being spoken to in a harsh and unfair manner.
This chairperson was not interested in talking the situation through. The main goal thereafter was to get me rejected from this charitable organisation. In order to do this a general meeting was held, where evidence was presented, which I had been sent a copy of. Taking advice from a friend I did nothing about it, he said legal costs would be horrendous.
I decided to NOT attend the committee meeting and walk away from the charity. The reason for this was the evidence being presented was 90% lies and detrimental comments from at least 6 different people, two of whom concocted stories which bore no relation to what actually took place. I decided that I wanted no more to do with these people, their nasty thoughts and twisted ideas. Although I had disputed this evidence with the secretary, who gave every angry impression that he believed what evidence he had be sent.
Having walked away and been kicked out, without even one committee member questioning the outlandish accusations brought against me, not that I cared at that time, I put this all behind me. That is until I had recovered from health issues and decided to spread my wings a little through an on line outlet three years later, only to find that this charity chairman was also a member and conspired to have me banned from this particular organisation, which they did, without explanation or reason.
This ban arose just over three years ago, and warned me of the vindictiveness that had been saved up to damage my reputation. This began just over six years ago. I have sent all the information to the head of the Charities Commission and she rejected my information recommending a government agency, she believed better equipped to deal with this situation.
As recommended by them I have entered into pursuit of this charity through this other government agency which I really hold out little hope as it seems reluctant to use it's fall force, probably to save money. Working very slowly and probably being overloaded by commitments, their heavyweight legal authority appears to be getting laughed at, maybe because of the fact they are dealing with a charity.
This charity holds information concerning me that is 90-95% false and has shown that at least one person involved with it, is prepared to use that false information against me. It should be known that this person is now on police records for making false claims of stalking and through wasting police time and resources.
I realise I should have attended the committee meeting over 6 years ago. However, this situation has caused myself and my wife considerable distress and concern and it maybe I can do nothing about it simply because a charity must keep it's disputed records indefinitely.
Does that mean false records as well? Does that mean these records may be used to cause harm to me the person recorded? Does that mean that a person who spoke out loudly because they were being disrespected may be treated like a criminal. No! worse than a criminal, getting punished twice by a vindictive insecure nasty person. I'm really interested to know Beverley Wells, what would you do ?
I have not named the charity because I have friends within it, also it could do some wonderful work, although many charities it is those who run the concerns and remain in control who gain the most from the assets generated. This sound cruel, however, it is a true fact that this is the case of all clubs and societies throughout the country however good they are.
