Must directors of a CIC always be payed through PAYE

Finance

Vicky Gerrard Co-director at The Fieldwork Project Posted 19 days ago

Hi, I need some advice about whether directors of a CIC must always be paid through PAYE. We have recently received a grant that will be able to pay myself and another director for a day a week for 36 weeks for a particular project. We are applying for grants that might extend this work but this isn't certain. We are unsure whether we need to set up PAYE or whether we can just make regular payments by invoicing the CIC on a sessional basis. Also, would this change if we received further funding which supported additional days work a week? Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance!
