Nursing home activity funding options?

Trusts & Grants

VIBIN BABY Manager at St. Georges Nursing Home Posted 1 year ago

I am working for a nursing home in Wallasey, Wirral. We are a small company, our residents would benefit from a dementia friendly activity table and the cost is £5000. We can't afford to buy it as a small company.
Does anyone know of any funding that supports our residents? Would be much appreciated if ould anyone please guide me, thanks.

Hi Vibin,
I would apply to the National Lottery Awards for All programme.
Applications are made on-line, and you can ask for up to £10,000.
The turnround time is quite short too.
Good luck !
Jimmy

Not a direct answer but https://www.cscbg.org.uk/ Christian Supply Chain Buying Group (CSCBG) are free to all and are a brokerage service for lots of goods, possibly what you are booking for. If you want to save monies for other buying you need to do, they could be a good place to start. for ref, I am a new director of them for COI purposes.

Hi Vibin, im an ex care worker and to my knowledge your options are an adult services review on each person you support with a review of hours funding. Each of your residents should have access to this, and any external activities or outside providers are supposed to be paid for by the person you support or from the funding fromthe adult services and learning disabilities team. I would check with the CQC as well as what you offered in your tender xx

Hi Vibin
here are a few funding options that may be able to help you purchase a dementia friendly activity table for your nursing home in Wallasey, Wirral:
Local government grants Many local governments offer grants to support charities and non-profit organizations that provide services to the community. You can contact your local council to see if they have any grants available that could help you purchase a dementia friendly activity table.
Charitable trusts There are a number of charitable trusts that support nursing homes and dementia care. You can search for charitable trusts that support your specific needs on the Charity Commission website: https://www.charitycommission.gov.uk/
Crowdfunding Crowdfunding is a great way to raise money from a large number of people. You can set up a crowdfunding campaign on a website such as GoFundMe or JustGiving to raise the money you need to purchase a dementia friendly activity table.
Corporate social responsibility Many companies have corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs that support charities and non-profit organizations. You can contact local businesses to see if they would be interested in sponsoring your dementia friendly activity table.
Here are some specific funding opportunities that you may be interested in:
  • The Wirral Community Fund offers grants to charities and non-profit organizations that support the community in Wirral. You can apply for a grant of up to £5,000.
  • The Dementia UK Innovation Fund offers grants to organizations that are developing innovative new ways to support people with dementia. You can apply for a grant of up to £10,000.
  • The Alzheimer's Society Research Grants Scheme offers grants to organizations that are conducting research into dementia. You can apply for a grant of up to £100,000.
I hope this information is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Additional tips for finding funding
  • Be clear about what you need the funding for. What is the purpose of the dementia friendly activity table? How will it benefit your residents?
  • Do your research. There are many different funding opportunities available. Take the time to find funding opportunities that are relevant to your needs and that you have a good chance of being successful with.
  • Write a strong funding proposal. Your funding proposal should clearly explain why you need the funding, how you will use the funding, and how the funding will benefit your residents.
  • Be persistent. It may take some time to find the right funding opportunity and to write a successful funding proposal. Don't give up if you don't get funded on the first try.
I wish you the best of luck with your fundraising!
Warm regards
