We are reviewing our process for probation periods. Currently we have a 3 month probation period, regardless of role and grade. There are no formal checks in prior to this to specifically discuss the probation period and we do not formally gathering any feedback from peers/direct reports etc. At the end of the 3 month probation period we either extend or sign off the probation. Occassionally, we have had to terminate the contract but unusual. 

Is anyone doing anything radically different which seems more meaningful?
