Should the staff member leave on her own or with the child?

Anonymous user Posted 21 days ago

A recent incident highlighted an area of concern for me as a trustee. At a   home visit to a mum and her  child by a staff member the mum became extremely agitated and dysregulated in her behaviour to the point where the staff member felt at risk. She contacted her manager who advised her to remove the child and herself. The staff member started to remove the child from the premises whilst the manager called the police for support.     It is unclear if the staff member felt the child was in harms way but she did feel unsafe herself.   This was raised with trustees as an area which need clarity. As a non-statutory agency should the procedure be to leave the child and for the staff member to leave the premises or should she take the child with her.  A conundrum Id love to hear your views on please.
