Small charity (community hall) uses charitable funds to purchase shares in a Benefit Society (local pub). Doesn't appear to have been any financial advice sought and it is put down as an 'investment', although there is no guarantee of any interest whatsoever, could even be a loss. 

Several trustees who are on the committee of the pub apparently took no part in the decision, but of those that remained there may have been other shareholders in the pub and/or volunteers at the pub who did not exclude themselves from the decision making process to use funds. The charity has been asked exactly how much of charitable funds have been used and how, but has only given a partial response.
