We are a small charity set up less than two years ago. It is registered with the Charity Commission. The Board of Trustees have approved me buying few office equipment such as a filing cabinet and a laser colour printer. The payment will be made from the current account in charity's name in which all donations are collected. I am wondering if I will be required to pay VAT of these purchases. I have read HMRC and CC websites and they do not give clear cut guidelines. Any advice on what I should do to avoid paying VAT so I can keep the cost down.
