Hi,
I was hoping to see how our volunteer retention rate compares to similar charities.
For background, we provide a free, expert service for victims of cybercrime & online harm in the UK. Out volunteers are either cyber security experts or domain experts (like marketing, finance, HR etc). It is a long term volunteering model with each volunteer giving 4 hours a week for roughly 42 weeks of the year. Most volunteers are on our helpdesk supporting victims. All are working remotely.
Looking at the last 12 months we have retained 48% of our volunteers in that period - so we have lost and replaced just over half.
We are trying to work out if this is a positive thing or a negative thing - i.e. how does this compare to others. Is anyone willing to share how this compares to their retention for longer term volunteers?
Thanks!
