How long should I wait to hear back after a job application? (Anonymous post 🤫)
But if they're right, why does email overload exist? Or Death by PowerPoint? Why do numerous communication approvals processes get so bogged down? Why does Internal Communication end up as ‘the whipping boy’ in so many employee surveys? And how much is all that lost time costing?
Clearly, something here doesn’t make sense - common or otherwise.
The Uncommon Sense of Internal Communication sets out to answer these and other seemingly paradoxical questions.
Originally drafted under the working title: "Why everybody’s rubbish and it’s no one’s fault", it compassionately challenges a number of widespread unconscious assumptions, and shines a light on various cultural blind-spots. In the process, it helps make sense of why so many people, even at the top of charities, seem to struggle with internal communication. And it leads you to practical steps you can take to help everybody think about IC in new ways – so you can start making an increasingly tangible difference to that inherited paradigm.
Fronted with an eight minute executive summary, the whole book is a smidge over a 90 minute read, which means there’s no reason for it to sit about gathering cyber-dust, because you could crack through it in an extended lunch break (it is ‘work’ after all, even if it is rather fun).
It comes in two versions:
• One for you
• One for Internal Communication Specialists
And you can get it in two formats:
• e-reader
So, if you’d like a copy, let me know which version(s) you want and I’ll whizz it/them across.
