CharityConnect: A call for action
Dear community,
I received an update from Amnesty International UK this morning and I'm hoping you can all help by signing the petition too...

Donald Trump's new executive order means families will still be kept in cages.

In the last 72 hours, thousands of Amnesty International supporters in the UK took action to stop the US from forcibly separating kids from their parents at the border with Mexico. In response to the global pressure, President Trump changed his tune.

Unfortunately, it's just a new way to punish parents and children who have fled violence and persecution.

His new order mandates that children stay with their parents in detention while their asylum claims are processed. It traps families indefinitely, inflicting further harm on people who have survived extreme trauma in their home countries.

Children should never be imprisoned.  Families running for their lives have the right to seek protection. Locking up children and parents as they seek asylum is a flagrant violation of human rights.

Trump has shown that he is susceptible to public outrage. We have to keep the pressure on and end family detention once and for all. Let Trump know that his new executive order is unacceptable.

What's worse is that Trump's administration has no plans to reunite the over 2000 children who have already been so cruelly separated from their families. They have been held in tents and massive warehouses, in extreme heat by day, and extreme cold at night. If they are not reunited with their families, these children will be further traumatised. Think of the damage it will do to their development.
Tell Trump to reunite over 2000 vulnerable children with their parents
