CharityConnect: A free 12-question AI checklist for charity boards
Most charities now use AI in some way, but very few boards have talked about it. The Charity Digital Skills Report 2026 found that 79% of charities use AI, but only 7% review its use and risks regularly at board level.
To help close that gap, I've put together a one-page checklist of twelve questions a board can work through at a meeting. It covers which tools are being used, what information must never go into them, who checks the output, and whether AI is on the risk register. It's attached, and you're welcome to copy it and use it within your own charity.
Anything that isn't a "yes" is a good item for your next agenda.
The checklist comes from a short guide I've written for trustees, AI for Trustees, but it works perfectly well on its own.
I'd be interested to hear how other boards are approaching this. Has yours discussed AI yet?
