Best funding donors and groups

Trusts & Grants

Peter Webb Founder and chair at Stoneleigh Job Club Posted 7 months ago

Can anyone suggest ways how to do local fundraising as well as looking at the large donor groups such as National Lottery?
How easy is it to do crowd funding starting from scratch ?  Or will local businesses donate with the right message.
I need to generate c £2k - £3k within 2 months using any approach . Unregistered small charity with ave £4k t/o . 10 volunteers.
Any ideas gratefully accepted.

Hi Peter
Use crowdfunding platforms like GoFundMe, JustGiving, or LocalGiving to create a compelling online fundraising campaign.
Warm regards

Hi Peter,
If you are concentrating on fundraising locally as opposed to nationally, then I would start with the trusts and foundations which make grants specifically to charities in Warwickshire - there are about 17 of these. As Ian has said, approach your local Community Foundation - in your case that’s the Heart of England Community Foundation in Coventry. They will provide both advice and funding. Try the National Lottery Awards for All scheme - you don’t need to be a registered charity, and grants are up to £20,000.
The key to success with local business is personal contact and aligning what you do with what interests them. So I'd start with your Board of Management and 10 volunteers, and have a brainstorming session to establish who knows what local business owners/CEOs/other key individuals. Those with the contacts make the first approach and introduce you to the business leaders. Be aware that many local businesses will not wish to make a cash donation (times are hard !) but may be persuaded to offer free or cost-price goods; facilities; or organise or undertake fundraising events for the Stoneleigh Job Club. They might even agree to launch a crowdfunding campaign for you.
Finally, I'd register your charity with the Charity Commission - soon !
Good luck !

You have a number of options.  My Charity Excellence Funding Finder database will let you search for Community Groups (ie unregistered).  Help Finder has a company donations finding capability.  Everything on my system is free.  You could also try your local Community Foundation. https://www.charityexcellence.co.uk/free-grant-funding-finder-directory/
