Hi there,
I have searched for a straightforward answer to this and don't seem to be able to find one anywhere!
If we as a charity pay some or all of a supporter's entry fee to a running (or other challenge) event - can their sponsors claim gift aid on their donations?
This page would seem to suggest that people who are 'unconnected' to the runner could claim but not anyone directly or closely related to them. This seems very complicated!  It seems to mainly be an issue on JustGiving where runners are asked whether they have received any benefits from the charity (e.g. a race place paid for) - then gift aid is automatically not applied to any of their sponsors.
I know lots of charities do cover entry fees so I am trying to work out what is the best wording to use for this?
Can anyone help?!
Thanks
Fliss
