CharityConnect: Ideas for reducing event waste
Hi everyone,
I am currently planning a large workshop to be delivered in Kumasi, Ghana, as part of disseminating learning from an environmentally focused project. The last time we ran an event in Ghana, I took the below image outside of our venue (not our rubbish I promise!), and am very conscious of our contribution to an already strained waste management system, particularly given the topic of our project!
I am trying to find some creative solutions to reduce the waste produced by the event, and am looking for reusable alternatives for programme delivery. The format will be a series of panel discussions and activities for around 200 participants. We will providing digital packs and materials rather than paper based, and am toying with the idea of having some facilitated introductions for each session to avoid the need to use name badges. Unfortunately single-use water bottles are unavoidable, however we are looking for other charities or initiatives to recycle the bottles used given the waste management issues in the city.
I would really love to hear about efforts other organisations have made to reduce event waste, whether in the UK or overseas, and any ideas of sustainable alternatives for workshop delivery!

Thank you :)
