Looking at reshaping my team, any insight?

Leadership

Adrian Lance Chief Operating Officer at Mental Health Foundation Posted 2 years ago

Hello
I've recently stepped up into a COO role at the Mental Health Foundation and I'm looking at the wider team (Finance, Facilities, IT and HR/Wellbeing/L&D) to see if there are any areas where I could look to move tasks around, cross working or do things differently.
The team is currently 7.5 FTEs plus me in a 120 employee charity. If anyone has any insight or suggestions that would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Adrian

Hi Adrian
Good luck in your new post, I hope it goes well.
Reshaping a team can be very positive, especially if things haven't moved with times and technologies for a while. In the ideal world this would be entirely driven by a reassessment of the charity's needs, but in reality there is more to think about - change management, personalities, legacy pay, personal motivations, associated system changes, politics and more.
One way of doing this *might* be to commission an external consultant (he would say that, wouldn't he!) to take a look at the set up as it stands, talk to the key people involved, and make recommendations. Not only will this give you an independent, slightly detached insight, but also the report and recommendations can become a tool for your change management project. He or she will also be well placed to help you implement change if you need support.
Hope this helps.

Hi Adrian,
I am an HR Business Partner as well as running my own business (recently set up) would be really happy to have a discussion about this if it would help?
