There is a plan afoot, of which I am aware and slightly active in, to set up a new charity and donate a 'nature reserve' to the charity. In principle this sees like a good idea, but I can see a host of interesting challenges, not limited to:

1) Identifying the liabilities that come with the asset - I know there are some significant ones
2) Ensuring that appropriate funds accompany the gift to enable future management of the assets and liabilities
3) Finding suitable trustees

Given that this would be a new charity, who would act on behalf of the charity during its formation and the donation of the land?

What other issues should we look out for?
