Recommendations for website payment system?

Hi,
I would be interested to hear people's thoughts/recommendations on payment systems to use for taking transactions (DDs and cards) on a Wordpress-based website.
I am wondering about Stripe as an alternative to Paypal but happy to hear about other suggestions.
Key things would be pricing and ease of development.
