If they had asked me to list the factors to be consider when forming a safeguarding strategy, without checking out existing strategies, even today, before I read the SCIE roundtable report, I would have missed some important ones.

This report is a 'must read' and 'put on file' document.  It has useful checklists for CEO's, trustee chair-people and many others in the charity sector.  I commend it to you.

I learned some lessons the hard way when I was scammed yesterday.  'They' are so clever, although I was alert to the issues,  but I thought that I had checked it out at each step.  When they were wanting me to go to the post office and send money .... I cut off and dialled 999.  Fortunately damage and great inconvenience, but not too much damage done (I think).

However, one thing I learned yesterday, that it would be very useful for us all to know in such a situation is the emergency first aid that I did not know: 1. make sure that you have a dialling tone before you dial out -- otherwise they 'play' at being 'the police' or ... 2.  disconnect the wi-fi hub if they are online or a mobile phone using it;  3.  Then ring 999, and notify any services that may have been compromised.

From reading the report I added some categories to my checklist:  discriminatory; organisational and institutional, acts of omission; self-abuse ...
