Small outdoor adventure organisation needing advice

Ops

polly harmer Founder at Shared Mountain Posted 2 years ago

Hello,
I have worked running outdoor adventure + personal development projects for young people at risk for many years.
Now I work with paying clients (paying clients are people i take up mont blanc ect) who donate me money to run youth projects.I would like to register this but I don't know what structure it would fit into.
Currently I offer paying clients the opportunity to donate and I have had 2 clients who recently donated £1000 + £2000 so i can run a climbing and hill walking course across the autumn for young women who have low confidence and low social skills.
I think having a registered charity number would help me for donations to this work. But I am already so busy trying to earn a living off my normal guiding work and deliver some youth projects it feels like the process of setting up a charity is too much for me. Any advice?
I was thinking I could set up as a small charity but it seems like a lot of extra work to do what already works effectively. Are there any other options as I only imagine I will do about £4000 max of these youth projects a year.
