This question is from a member of our community that wishes to remain anonymous:
Would you have the husband of your only employee as a trustee?
We are a very small charity who have only had a paid employee for just under a year. We advertised for new trustees and had a response from their husband.
We checked that it was ok and were told that as long as he recused himself on issues concerning them. However, our employee is causing concern with refusing to meet line managers, failing to do things, leaving things until the last minute and every meeting appears to be mostly about that so he has to remove himself.
We’re at the stage of wondering what to do? To ask him to leave his post due to conflict of interest? It is developing into a dreadful situation and I wondered if anyone had any ideas or advice?
