does anyone have or can recommend a template for an agreement with a casual/sessional worker (ie not an employment contract) they would be happy to share?

I don't think you can get away with not issuing an employment contract. My understanding is that casual workers have pretty much the same rights as workers with set hours, i.e. holiday pay, sick pay, etc. Agreements only work with volunteers.

Hi Traci
A simple google search seems to find lots of examples:
https://www.google.com/search?q=casual+worker+agreement+uk
However I'd advise you to take care to ensure you are right to use such an arrangement (I'm sure you will). There is some good advice here:
