This question is from a member of our community that wishes to remain anonymous:
I have concerns with our current board of directors. My main concern is that i have lost faith in the directors of our charity - they don't do anything. At the last meeting the chair arrived early, interrupted another meeting i was in and proceeded to loose his temper with me saying we had loads of complaints (which i am unaware of, one i can prove he wasn't telling the truth) and when I confronted him (stood up for myself, in front of a fellow director and my member of staff) he lost his temper started shouting at me, it got quite heated which upset myself and my staff member. He resigned so I asked for his keys, which I don't think he was expecting.
Unfortunately he still has full control of the bank account. One other director during the actual meeting said they would resign once the fines (late accounts) had been dealt with. The directors agreed to pay said fines with the charities money, even when I said that I had been advised they can't use the charities money, the directors agreed to pay it out of the bank account.
I am now in a situation where, if this director (who has agreed that they have no time to do anything for the charity itself), if they don't resign as they agreed to do, I will loose my member of staff which then leaves me on my own, and I don't want to go back to doing everything myself again - my contract is 16 hours and i do (as does the other member of staff) way beyond that every week which is having a financial impact on my own business.
I believe that with a new committee the community centre can really strive, but I am at a loss on how to make this happen.
I realise this maybe slightly confusing as here is soo much involved and I fear that lack of commitment they have has these past two years (maybe beyond that) will come back to me so feel I need to protect myself and my staff.
I have tried to speak to the charity suggested by the charities commission, they didn't answer or get back to my voice mail. if you have any advice or can point me in any direction I would be very grateful.
