I'm beginning to write a paper for my Chair to outline the reasoning for restructuring our little bunch of volunteers who run the PTA.
Currently the only requirement to join the committee is that that you are a parent or teacher. By joining the committee, you automatically become a trustee though that's never made clear.
My thoughts are to make things more visible by renaming the committee as the fundraising committee but split out the trustee element to those who want to be trustees. No idea how we'd appoint trustees but it does feel like they should serve for more than one year; three feels sensible.
My question is can we restrict who qualifies to be a trustee or does it have to be open? Keeping the parent/teacher constraint seems sensible though extending it to within two years of having a kid who has left the school would make sense.
