CharityConnect: Cultural markers to help charities assess, measure and improve their cultures
Is your culture positive, so you have time to relax - or are there cracks appearing and growing? ICSA The Governance Institute has just issued a great new resource reminding us that a purely rules based approach cannot, by itself, create a positive, strong culture that protects individuals and teams form making bad choices. If an organisation and its people are clear that 'this is the way things are done around here' and the organisation stays true to those values and beliefs, it will help inspire trust (inside and outside the organisation).
As the report rightly says "Culture, alongside good governance, can be pivotal to whether a charity achieves its stated objects".
So do have a look at the 'cultural markers' the report highlights and think about how your charity fares against those markers. What can you do to enhance your culture and so strengthen your charitable impact?
Please share your ideas to help others.
