Hello folks, can I please ask if anyone has received emails from the Charities Trust asking for bank details confirmation, see below. This is unsolicited and I do not click on links in emails I am not expecting, I have removed the link/contact details etc fyi. But their contact details seem to check out although scams are very sophisticated these days.
Has anyone had experience of this and know if it is legitimate?
Thank you,
Jo
"We have recently contacted you to confirm that your charity has been registered with Charities Trust, as a donor/client working with us has indicated they would like to support you. This donor is Barclays. Please note that this is the third and final contact that will be made in our attempt to complete our due diligence process. Please do not ignore this request.
As previously advised, we have some verification checks we need to complete before we can pass donations to your organisation.

If you do not provide us with the requested information below, we will refer back to the donor/client which may result in the cancellation of funds.
In order for us to complete the verification process and pass donations via BACS, we need you to provide us with your banking information. The information below has been provided in all previous correspondence and is replicated again to ensure that you can satisfy yourself with any necessary checks prior to providing the information requested.
Who are we?
Charities Trust is a registered charity and an HMRC regulated Payroll Giving Agency. We also administer and manage Charitable Trusts and funds and pay money from a variety of sources to thousands of charities and good causes globally. You can read more about us here.
Our verification process
In line with our anti-fraud procedures we require bank details verified with a scan, a photograph or a download of a redacted bank statement or voided cheque, clearly showing the account name, number and sort code. Screenshots of online banking and letters from the bank cannot be accepted. If you are a non-UK charity, we will also require you to provide other relevant information to enable you to receive an international payment. For example: IBAN/BIC (Europe), SWIFT/Routing (United States), FCRA (India), etc.
Any bank details supplied to us are securely stored and will not be shared with third parties.
Please click on the following link to upload your bank details securely, using your unique reference.
If you have any further queries please contact Charities Trust using the details below. Our helpline is available Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 1:00pm. Please quote your unique reference when you contact us so we can assist you as smoothly as possible.
Thank you

Hi Jo,
Charities Trust is a legitimate organisation and this email/request sounds similar to the one they sent us when they wanted to send us funds for the first time. But if you're in doubt, i'd just call them on the number on their website!

Hi Jo - I know that Benefact Trust have used Charities Trust to distribute money in the past.  Probably helps in their due dilligence process of making sure that the money gets to the right place.  I'd call Charities Trust - make sure you call a number you find from their website rather than one stated in the email for your own due dilligence!

Jo Watson
Thank God for that! It did seem like a scam. However I am glad it was not.
Warm regards
