First Aid Africa is an international charity which promotes and provides sustainable first aid training across sub-Saharan Africa. We currently operate in six countries, including Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia, to bridge unequal access to basic healthcare.

Each year, our training is delivered by local programmes supported by Scottish Government funding as well as participants of our international volunteering programme, operating through our First Aid Africa regional offices. Instructors from the international community are given specialist training before joining our staff and work with local volunteers in one of our partner countries.

As well as direct training for approximately 5000-8000 people each year, we also provide learning resources and training materials for a variety of organisations, as well as mentoring new first aid trainers ensuring the next generation of instructors lead the way for years to come.

The First Aid Africa Board of Trustees provides leadership and governance to charity operations, developing and promoting the strategic vision and supporting the financial and regulatory processes of the charity. The Board of Trustees is always looking for talented and experienced members to advance the strategic mission of First Aid Africa. We are currently actively recruiting for new board members to provide additional support to our growing operations.

The First Aid Africa Board is an inclusive organisation and is seeking applications from professionals in all relevant sectors. In particular, the Board is looking to recruit at least one new trustee with financial or accounting expertise, and two additional trustees with other relevant experience. The First Aid Africa Board is an active trustee group and we suggest applicants be willing to commit an average of two hours per week to strategic, financial or policy support, and at least one day per quarter for board meetings.
