With the cost-of-living crisis continuing to impact charities across the UK, the Charity Fraud Survey 2022 found that almost three in five charities fear they are a target and at increased risk of fraud.
The report is drawn from 100 respondents within UK-based charities, and found the below results:
- 69% of charities experienced a financial loss from fraud in 2022
- From this, 58% of charities believe the risk of fraud will increase over the next 12 months
- Cybercrime and cybersecurity were cited as the biggest hacking concern, with 41% of respondents fearing this will be the biggest risk in 2023
