CharityConnect: GDPR - expert advice sought - Partnership projects / General contacts
Hi,
I'm looking for someone who can give some GDPR advice.
If you have advice to comment then that would be helpful.
I'm also able to engage someone - so if you know someone who may be able to help, then please DM me their details.
The situation concerns GDPR in 2 areas :
1) partnership projects - with multiple organisations, responsible for different parts of a project- and having different responsibilities and roles with respect to personal-data.
2) what i call "organically acquired contacts" - people we meet at conferences, come across in our work, encounter on twitter - and generally some how make a connection with. if they've given their contact details - what is the GDPR status.

I've put a bit more info below.
But any help is much appreciated - thanks, Tom
1) Partnership projects
My organisation has a number of data-partnership projects, where one partner holds (social-economic) data, which informs web-based tools which address environmental issues. - such as how many trees were cut down to grow the beef in your hamburger & who did it?

My organisation does the communications around these projects -mailing lists, engaging users and publishing research and other reports. A partner will often host the website with the data on it - but where mailing list people can sign up.
I want to get some advice on how to manage the differing GDPR obligations/relations between the partners. Questions include :  Can we be data controllers for different parts of teh data going through the website. What is necessary to formalise the reletionship. What if the partners are in other countries - or even UN Bodies. (so not in any country)?

2) Organic contacts
If i have someone's contact details - from somewhere (eg people we meet at conferences, come across in our work, encounter on twitter - and generally some how make a connection with) what is the gdpr status. I'm certainly allowed to email them - that expected and normal. But is it reasonable to add them to a mailing list - if i judge that's in line with their expectations.
