I am curious, how is your organisation approaching learning and development? Are there particular challenges or creative solutions you’ve come across? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences!

Hi Rob
Our charity approaches learning and development by aligning training with our mission, budgets, and staff needs. We found a key challenge is limited resources, which can restrict access to formal training. Creative solutions include peer-led workshops, partnering with other non-profits to share resources, and using free or low-cost e-learning platforms.
Encouraging a culture of continuous learning through reflection, mentoring, and feedback loops also helps. Volunteer training should be practical and values-driven.
Leadership development is often overlooked but essential. Digital tools like Loom, Notion, or Slack channels can support informal learning. Ultimately, making learning accessible and mission-relevant yields the best result.

Warm regards

Hi Rob,

Have you posited the idea of your colleagues taking up a trustee role?
This would allow them exposure to the behind-the-scenes running of a charity; what boards think about, suggest and help implement to make the charity stronger; it would allow exposure to working more effectively with other people; they'd see the results of their efforts in real-time.

If you'd like to know more about this and how I might be able to help, DM me here and we can discuss it.

Cheers,
Emma
