Pets As Therapy (PAT) dog requirements

Gemma Timmis Volunteer Engagement Officer at St Richard's Hospice Posted 1 year ago

I'm looking for guidance on what other charities require from PAT dog visitors please; PAT ask for proof of vaccinations as part of pets' their annual registration renewal, however they don't ask this for flea treatment or worming, so wondering whether any other charities do their own checks for this?
Thank you

I know you asked over a year ago, but our organisation require the initial vaccinations then either regular ones at the vet or proof of titre testing to show there are enough anit-bodies in their systems.  We also allow raw feedinig too.  Hope that helps.

Hi Gemma,
I would imagine that doing as much as you can practically do in the best way forward to alleviate any 'fears', so including proof of recent flea and worming treatments would help here, as well as anything else that responsible pet owners do (anyway).
Maybe ask  Guide Dogs for the Blind for advice too?
Good luck.
