postponement of Election during Covid-19

I Hussain IT Manager at MPICC Posted 5 years ago

Hi all,
I have serious of question and I hope you understand the situation.
Due to the Covid-19 situation, it looks like our election for our charity which is suppose to be held in June 2020, will have to be either postponed or delayed.
Our constitution does not mention anything about any postponement in this current situation.  Do we now discuss with trustee's and see what is the next step and what we should do?  Can the decision be made via conference call, as we do not have anything on the constitution about virtual meeting.  How do we go about informing our members, as most do not have emails, we have about 400 members.
How will does it work, if we postpone for another year, can we have existing trustee run the charity for another year?
If it is decided that the postponement to be several month later, will we have to change constitution to reflect new election date? as we hold election every two years? if the constitution date is not changed, then will the new elected trustee have a shorter term?
Thanking the panel in advance.
