My early careers were in Retail and Motor Trade management creating and managing some very successful teams and gaining skills workings with people. Circumstances led me to work in IT, but I soon discovered a knack for the non-techie side that included Training, Support, Contract, Service and Project management resulting in working for two Local Authorities for over 15 years and across multiple directorates, departments, programmes and working on some multi-million-pound projects. Out of this I developed a business creating and managing training and development programmes for Charities and Support Groups and assisting them with their administrative systems.
A recent redundancy gave me the chance of a reset and to use my skills directly supporting groups needing additional assistance, so I rejoined the charity sector. Was this a scary move? Oh yes, but rewarding. Since the lock-down, I have also been volunteering for another charity as a Digital Champion which has led me to consider using my past skills to set up and a run training and development programmes for Charities and Support Groups, with the possibility of a recruitment and apprenticeship support element.
