Juliet Isherwood

Membership Project Officer at National Federation of Women's Insititutes
London

Message

My current role has given me many opportunities but I am looking to transition into a more proactive role with more notable impact. My current role is simply not enough to satisfy my drive. Work at the WI has allowed me to see what can be done and I am driven to play my role in the struggle.

My work to establish WIs in women's prisons has been one of the most fulfilling, rewarding and energising achievements of my career so far, having successfully grown multiple prison WI's and even established a new one in Derbyshire prison.

I make an effort to be involved in the events the WI put on to educated our members to help survivors in their communities. This includes the services offered to them by local refuge centres, women's centres and active campaigns for opening more women centres to keep women safe.

I was responsible for pinpointing key objectives for tracking current and potential members, and I worked closely with my colleagues and the WI at large to create membership strategies and presentations. My work in the membership team is heavily orientated toward internal and external collaboration, requiring strong communication and presentation skills.

I began my career in a secretarial role and continued on into membership roles, all of which required strong administrative and organisational skills, as well as the ability to work in fast paced environments. A lot of this I still do as I am part of the Membership Committee meetings which happen three times a year and I ensure that the papers are ready for these. I do the minuting and make sure the minutes and actions are taken to the NFWI Board meetings which happen five times a year.

I am looking to work for charities who help women and girls. Specifically charities that prevent and protect survivors of domestic abuse, prevent forced marriages or ensure women and girls have access to education and healthcare.  My ambition has always been to work for organisations such as these.
