Good afternoon, I hope someone may be able to help with some information on updating our charity constitution. The charity was registered with the charity commission in 1981 and the type of registration is stated as OTHER, which is not very helpful when trying to determine what best practice should be followed when updating our constitution. When considering how we operate, we employ staff, we own property and we have contracts with local authorities in the name of the charity, and if we were being established today the CIO model would seem to be the most appropriate. That being the case, would it be good practice, and future proofing, to update our constitution in line with the guidance for a CIO model?
On a separate point, under our current OTHER designation, how can I find out what this means and the rules/guidance that applied in 1981. Also under this designation what is the trustee liability situation.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated
Regards
Chris
