I have been doing the accounts for a Community Interest Company for a number of years.

They have now become a CIO and I have been asked to maintain their bookkeeping with them using a separate person to do the independent examination.

Their income from funding will be around the 30k mark.

Do I need to match specific expenditure to specific funds received. This was not particularly an issue when I was dealing with a CIC and I would just run funding through on income and expenditure as instructed with funding that hadn't been used put into deferred income. Will I thus need to bring in a system of allocation to general expenses whereby they are offset in some way against each fund? How fussy is the regulation on this? It will mean me continually hassling the main coordinator, who runs multiple projects simultaneously, about what bill goes where. I have been looking for guidance on this and asking their independent examiner for a template but haven't got a straight answer yet. Any advice will be appreciated.
