Help please. My charity will be recruiting next Spring and I am wondering if I can get help / suggestions from you about setting salary bands..... I have always been amazed with the differences in salary levels between the commercial, statutory and charity sector, and we really need to develop a good remuneration policy. So, for context, we are looking to recruit three posts - a person to develop our Family Services further, a Business Development Manager to grow sales and an Operations Manager (handling book-keeping, HR etc). I have previously used several ways of setting salaries for charity roles - NJC payscales, NHS scales or bench-marking against similar jobs in the local area (using online charity recruitment sites). But, we may need to attract candidates who currently don't work in the voluntary sector and therefore I believe we need to set salary levels to encourage the right talent into our organisation. So, I am asking for your help. Any suggestions about what approach to take would be useful. And (this is a big "ask"), if anyone with recruitment expertise in East Anglia, is prepared to chat to me about this, I'd love to hear from you.
